Look different? After a brief one-day flirtatious relationship with $50 Godspeed coilovers (DONT FUCKING DO THIS) I cut my stock springs in half and slapped them on the top of adjustible coilover perches from the godspeed kit.

Kinja'd!!!

This is where it sits now, and it can go 3 inches lower (which I believe would just result in it sitting on the bumpstops). I've only done the rear, but the spring rate appears to be slightly higher due to the shorter springs and cornering is slightly improved. I hope to do the front springs today, and get a little bit lower. The wonderful thing about this suspension is that at the drop level I have no there appears to only be a .5 degree (if that) camber gain, and the tire sits nicely in the wheel well.

Kinja'd!!!

Here's what the awful Godspeed springs looked like installed. I actually hit my head on the roof due to the bounce.

Side note: my struts have 250,000 miles on them. Never replaced. They are ALL blown already, so I'm planning on saving up for an actual adjustable strut/coilover set that isn't ghetto bullshit. Expect that to happen in a month or so. In the meantime, this is actually surprisingly good and solid.

The rear suspension on my econobox has just given up. I crash into the bump stops and rub the tires against the wheel well all the time, lol.

Need $$$ to fix it, before you ask.

Makes sense that it seems good...if all your struts are blown already it couldn't possibly get any worse. :-p

If you're going for cheap coilovers (later I mean, like you said), ST suspensions makes good stuff. 7-800 bucks for a full coilover kit, height adjustable. Cheaper than that is asking for trouble.

Ouch. That sounds annoying.

A fellow Opponaut has some Konis that are used I'm hoping to get a decent price on... I have about a $300 suspension budget, sadly :/ I don't really need adjustable damping, just adjustable height.

Yeah, 300 is tough for struts and springs (I just spent 600 on struts alone reusing my springs, but mostly for fancy strut mounts). The STs aren't damping adjustable, just height...you really can't go much cheaper on coilovers that are worth a damn.

Not as much as you'd think. Roads are relatively smooth around here, it's only across train tracks and patches that I crash/rub.

Roads up here in NWF are pretty good, except when it rains and you realize the curves are banked in the wrong direction. Also, does South/Central Florida have speed bumps every 30 feet on the beach roads?

haven't been to the beach in a long time, so not sure. I can tell you that there are still plenty of unpaved roads around here and the city couldn't give a fuck less about speed-bumping them. Also some patches of road are okay, but a small minority of others are completely falling apart; like, huge two-foot chunks just ripped out.

$50 coilovers? I knew you were going to do sketchy-as-fuck mods to this because... well, you're you , but that's a safety risk man.

I know the pain of having totally worn out struts. When I drove the M3 home from the sellers house I probably hit my head 10 times. Was the worst riding thing I've ever had the displeasure of putting myself behind the wheel of.

Oh my god. The window trim on our CR-V does the same thing. Under all the black plasticky stuff is chrome. Funny thing is, the higher trim levels the widow surrounds are chrome, so seems like they built all the cars with the chrome and just painted over it for the cheaper models! It's a conspiracy!!!

Shervin made some home-made modifications to his motorcycle, including adding "speed holes" to his license plate, as well as the frame. Above is the picture of one of the holes he cut in the frame to add lightness.

Don't be like Shervin.

Holy crap, that's awful. Take a poop before you get on the bike and you'll lose more weight than all that bullshit did.
